Anthroid

An anthroid is a synthetic, artificially constructed anan with a seemingly organic exterior and an entirely mechanical interior. Advanced technology is required in their design to ensure that they look, feel, and function seemingly just like a traditional living creature This terminology is most widely used with the creatures from the Realm of MERDO, though it has also been used to describe mechanical synth from the TXR Worlds as well as the members of the Kajji.

Anthroids are intelligent, powerful beings with limited to full sentience and independence, and arguably a great deal of advantages over a traditional organic creature. Such advantages include their strength, stamina, durability, flexibility, self-awareness and voluntary control of all their physical functions, and more. They are also capable of emotion and understanding emotion, except for that which can be deemed illogical, such as envy and hatred. However, they tend to be less creative and somewhat slower at interpreting new concepts that they were given no programmed knowledge of, such as modern slang or perceived illogical behavior such as irrational anger. However, all anthroids are different, and have differing strengths and weaknesses.

The term "android" is mostly interchangable with the concept of "anthroids", though an android can be used as a blanket term for just about any unnatural creature, such as an anthroid, golem, or a synthoid. (see comparison article)

After anthroids were discovered to exist by the mass population in 2006, they became the target of one of the worst instances of specism in the Third Era of Kinta. Several groups have voiced suspicion of anthroid's reasons to cover up their true nature, some going as far as to accuse anthroids of trying to infiltrate regular societies to destroy them. Despite the fact that all MERDOian anthroids are benevolent, the Terager attacks of November 23rd, 2003 have been seen as being motivated by synthetica and their technology, and other kinds of synth such as Hountos only fuel the anger of those who doubt their benevolence. Rasterian society and entertainment has also almost always portrayed artifical creations as malevolent, revolting violently against its creators, and therefore many of her citizens believe this can be the only result of the proliferation of anthroids in the mainstream. No Kintan government has yet given synthetic beings the same protected rights as organic anan.
